newly weds!

Just recently Kirk and I were at the park with our crazy doggy doo, Mo! It was a nice evening and it was starting to get dark. An older man came to hang out with us, whom we've seen like 5o times but can only remember his dogs name, Betty, and not his hahahaha. Pretty pathetic! But he was telling us about his ranch in Idaho. He said it was where his and wife and himself raised their children, they had cows-chickens-horses-sheep and Betty. They grew crops too! He was telling us all these wonder things he loved about his ranch...it painted a perfect picture in our heads. And, as you know, Kirk and I have a dream of owning land where we can have a ranch too :) We want that soooooooo bad. So! We asked him "If you could do it over again, what would you do differently?" It seemed like a good question to ask! We were hoping for good pointers on stuff like... "Well, when you buy chicks, expect 2 or 3 of them to die so always buy a few more than you want"... or other advice like... "Horses are just like dogs. They need to be played with and given attention daily for hours if you want them to be good animals..." bla bla.

But Instead...

he said, "I would listen and learn all I can from people around me. I would value my relationships so much more the second time around..."
That comment made it really obvious to my husband and I that we are at two complete different stages of our lives. I will never forget the way that change of focus happened. We talked about it on out drive home. Life is such a beautiful cycle. This man had to be in his 60's reflecting back on his life, wondering if he did all he could to make it fulfilling... and here we are, newly-weds still dreaming about the future we want to put together. It's so awesome!

Having said that, Congratulations on this New-Start to Brad and Leah! We love you!

"May the joy of our fidelity to the highest and best within us be ours as we keep our love and our marriages, our society and our souls, as pure as they were meant to be."

today's top ten!

Today I am Grateful For:
  1. Today I'm grateful that my husband took me out for dinner at Olive Garden, that our bill was smaller then we thought AND that we got two chocolate mints each, instead of one :) .
  2. I'm so thankful for our home. Somehow cleaning our house always makes me more grateful for it. There's nothing like the smell of fresh laundry, and the look of shiny counter-tops and floors. I love cleaning! I love it, i L.O.V.E. it. It seriously makes me more grateful for what we have.
  3. I'm grateful Kirk and I have jobs that we love. We had to weed through a few before we found what we have, but that has made us love them all the more! Happy and exciting jobs totally promote a happy and stress/pressure-free marriage :)
  4. I'm grateful for the way my body feels when I exercise. I'm on a roll everyone! I'm a bridesmaid @ Brad & Leahs wedding next week (YAY!!!!) and I"m proud to say my crash-work outs have been successful once again! I have gone running every night, walking every morning and biked 3 times since last Monday! 8 days in a row baby...going strong!
  5. I'm thankful for girlfriends! I've been able to catch up with a few and look forward to seeing a few more SOON! I love my Chelsey's, Tali's, Ally's, McKenna's, Barbie's and my Mommy Fortuna's!
  6. Today I'm thankful for blessings that come from reading the BOM. Somehow I lost track of time this morning while I was eating my cereal... before I knew it was 8am!! Ah! I'm usually out the door 5 minutes before 8!! By the time I got my last-minute things together I didn't leave until 8:07. Somehow I was able to leave my house, stop by the office to get chalk, get stalled by an old lady with lots of memories to share, fill up at the gas station and get clear across town by 8:29. One minute before I would be late. I couldnt believe I had made such good time! I didn't speed AND I hit red lights lol! I feel like It all happened because the Lord wanted to strengthen my testimony on reading the scriptures. It did, and it boosted my confidence in Him a level stronger. An awesome feeling!
  7. I"m grateful that Mo and I got to play in the river! We ran a bike trail near our house that follows a river! SooO when we were sweaty and stinkcy we decided to tromp through the bushes and sticks to the water. She absolutley LOVED it! She was going CRAZY! It was so funny! She loves the sand and water! I took off my shoes and socks so I could chase her..... she got a kick out of it! She was flippin up sand, splashing everywhere, then rolling around in the sand agian...way fun! However, I thought I was going to kill her when she grabbed my shoes and took them swimming hahaha but it was pretty fun to see her so hyper!
  8. I'm grateful that I was able to wake up at 5 am this morning and not be tired, but totally energetic! It's been a while since I had to get up that early for work!! It reminded me how much I love the cool, still, fresh St George mornings.
  9. I'm so grateful for Barbie today. She has such great adive and is such an awesome roll model. She's so sweet, honest and good-hearted. I admire her! I'm sooo grateful I got paired up to team teach with her! I learn so much everyday.
  10. I'm grateful for treats! Today while I was driving I was thinking about all the yummy foods I love (in a "If I were stuck on an Island and could only have 3 foods, what would they be?" kind of way). I love red vines/twizzlers, tootsie rolls, fresh fruit & veggies, guacamole, pretzles, diet mountain dew.... and sweet potatoe french fries! awh yes. yum! And an occasional hand-full of cheerioes! OH! and chocolate-covered cinnamon bears!
  11. I'm also grateful that Kirk and I have enough to give :)

My Kirky Monster!

SooOoo this morning Kirk went to work like any other normal day, with a big hug and a kiss! After he was out the door I was heading down the hall to brush my teeth when the front door opened again. "BAAAAAABE, you should drop by the office today and see me! I love you! Bye again!" Awhhh another teency tincy moment that made me love him more. Of course I'll drop by!!! I know he loves spending time together whenever we can, but to HEAR it... to have him ASK it, for him to SAY it,.... Awh. I know, little right!? But it made my day! I'm so grateful and blessed. And yess, that little moment made me fall in love with him and our happy marriage even more! .... Somehow he ALWAYS does that! I tell him all the time that I don't think my love for him can grow any greater, but he always suprises me! He always finds a way without even knowing it! And I stand here again to say that if my love grows anymore for him, it's going to explode everywhere! Love guts and goo over EVERYTHING! hahaha

"I've seen the storm clouds in your past,

But baby rest assured 'cause you are home at last!

I rescued you, you rescued me.

We're right where we should be when we're together.

I know the questions in your mind, but go ahead and ask me one more time.

You'll find the answer's still the same...

...It won't change from day to day, for worse or better.

Will I promise to be your best friend?

And am I here until the end?

Can I be sure I have been waiting for you?

And did I say my love is true?

Baby I will.

I am.

I can.

I have.

I do.

I know the time will disappear,

But this love we're building on will always be here.

No way that this is sinking sand...

On this solid rock we'll stand forever.

Will I promise to be your best friend?

And am I here until the end?

Can I be sure I have been waiting for you?

And did I say my love is true?

Baby I will. I am. I can. I have. I do. "

Country music says it all sometimes!

I have a bestfriend forever!!!! wo. I have someone who holds the priesthood in our home. I have someone to love me forever. I have someone who believes in me. I have someone who will squish the bugs for me. I have someone who pulls out my gray hairs and still loves me(i know, i know. i'm only TWENTY TOO!). I have someone who is my running buddy. I have someone. I have someone who tickles me, even when I get mad at him for it. I have someone who plays jokes on me. I have someone to dance with. I have someone to sing in the car with. I have someone that reads me Gospel books. I have someone with a really cute smile! I have someone who saves other peoples lives. I have someone who will do a load of laundry when he see's it's been a busy week for me. I have someone who lets me come home to a candle lit evening. I have someone who shares the same priorities with me. I have someone whom I share open communication with. I have someone who takes me back to the temple. I have someone who is committed to me. I have someone to make dinner for. I have someone to take care of. I have someone to create a cozy home for. I have someone to love. I have someone to tell my funny Preschool stories to. I have someone to kiss. I have someone to watch movies with. I have someone who eats my leftovers. I have someone to call. I have someone with big, manly, gentle hands and big, stinky feet. I have someone who knows how to make me happy. I have someone to cuddle with all night. I have someone to be unconditionally grateful for, and another Someone to be unconditionally grateful to.

where does a mommy belong!?

*** before you read this, please know that these are my personal thoughts and feelings on the subject of Motherhood. i don't mean to preach or tell ppl what's right and wrong, i simply mean nothing more than to journal keep about something i am passionate about. take my words with a grain of salt and know they are nothing more than just me :) everyone has something different going for them and these are only my and my good hubby's thoughts. (i forget ppl actually read my blog)***

HOME vs WORK?

To start off, I want to make clear that I don't deny what's right for one person may not be what's right for another. But that's the point, right!? Doing what we feel is right in this lfie! Being a single mom or having financial burdens can be the decision maker between being a Stay-at-Home mom or a working mom, but huh. All the time I feel like I am the 'odd ball out' because I DO want to be a Stay-at-Home mom.! So bad! Even though it has become the less popular route, am I okay with that?! You bet I am! :) I have only met one other who wants that too..just ONE! I stick out like a soar thumb whenever the conversation of being a working mom is brought up, and around married couples our age it's a popular topic of conversation, but the feelings in my heart and the unspoken words in my mind always leave me feeling like I am following Gods plan for Catharine McAllister. Gratefully, the man I married feels the exact same way.

Last Saturday Kirk and I went mountain biking with some really great friends. I have to say I was EXSTATIC that I met another girl in St George that puts value on Motherhood in the same ways I do! THE FIRST GIRL in what feels like forever! It was a sweet spirit that filled our conversation that morning. I felt like it was a little piece of Heavenly Support :) My closest friends don't feel the way I do. Many girls I admire qualities in leave me flying solo, and sometimes shocked. Some fabulous women I know have left me feeling like I'm paving a brand new trail. Something inside me dies when they tell me they have no aspirations of staying home with their children. Gosh, it just makes me feel sad...

No, my opinion on motherhood has never changed. Do I believe that Heavenly Father has foreordained women to Motherhood? Absolutley, just as I believe He foreordained men to the Priesthood. Do I belive that Motherhood is too valuable to be replaced? With all my heart... it doesn't matter if it's work, babysitters or anything, nothing is comparable. "It is for you a great work to be done that cannot be left to others" Pres Hinckley.

To me, Motherhood is not just lipstick, stylish hairdos, and trendy clothes. Certaintly I feel stronger, more confident and ready to take on the world when I am done up- but from the moment you finish getting cutified, lose yourself in creating yourself and your family a beatuiful day! My mom has changed the darkest hours into the most beauitful days! What would I do in those depressing minutes if her light wasn't there to scare the darkenss away? Wow...I would have become lost in the world a long time ago. That's something a babysitter or daycare lady can't do!! It is something I imagine becomes part of a mom through the process of having and loving a child. Nobody loves like a mother does.

Just teaching 3 and 4 year olds, and having had worked on Pediatrics has shown me motherhood in glorified ways. It seems like having your own children increases your capacity to love. I know I don't have kids, but I have found that my quality of expressions has grown by being around them. I have been shown and discovered ways to love, love more, and love funny things. I think Motherhood is desgined that way. I also think it can fine-tune and build your spirituality. It can show you ways to develope and spotlight your delicacy, radiance, sensitivity, creativity, charm, graciousness, gentleness, dignity, and quiet strength. Those are qualities women bask in.... not necessarily men.

My sister in-law nailed it perfectly when she said "It would be easier for me to go to work any day than stay home. I catch myself wanting that at any minute, but it's the easy way out. A good day at work is far easier than a good day at home." Perhaps that's why women choose to work out of the home. Stress, pressure, cleaning up the same messes day in and day out, ruined this-broken that, "no, no, no", listening to screaming and crying, no privacy, no peace ... I can't imagine. But don't give up. Before you know it, it will be gone and missed. "I believe our problems, almost every one, arise out of the homes of the people. If there is to be reformation, if there is to be a change, if there is to be a return to old and sacred values, it must begin in the home. It is here that truth is learned, that integrity is cultivated, that self-discipline is instilled, and that love is nurtured. - Gordon B. Hinckley. A full time mother is needed so badly. Strength, progression and conquering the world is learned by being a mom :) "Motherhood is manifest differently in each girl or woman, but each of you possesses it. Mothering is part of your inner beauty" Pres Faust.

"If the day comes when we are the only women on earth who find nobility and divinity in motherhood, so be it. For mother is the word that will define a righteous woman made perfect in the highest degree of the celestial kingdom, a woman who has qualified for eternal increase in posterity, wisdom, joy, and influence." -Sheri Dew
I love you mom, thanks for teaching me how to become the person I am! The gospel is alive in my life because it was alive in your home when I was growing up. I've learned so many outspoken things through your beautiful testimony. I always look forward to hearing your cheerful voice and your uplifting words. There's things only you can say. I love you! I hope I can become the woman you are! You're an example to me mom! xoxoxo

Big J and Little J! Happy Blessing Day! Jason offered a beautiful baby blessing in church on Sunday! There's def a special spirit in the Parry family, mom-dad-and baby! We are so excited we got to come to salt lake for this special day! It may have been another 25 hour trip, but family is worth it! Every time.

Happy Family!

RODEO FOREVER

forever forever forever forever

He's my cowboy hero and I'm his rhinestone cowgirl!

This was Rodeo Night # 2 of the weekend! And of course, the rodeo gets better and better each night! But we are proud to say we witnessed a Bronco record of 92 on Fancy Pants this night! YEEHAW!! Maybe that's a sign that we should host the PRCA rodeos!!!?!?!!!!!. BUT... I do have to say I was extremely dissapointed in the crowds. I can't tell you how stinkin mad I was that the couple next to me didn't put their hand over their heart for our National Anthem. They were the only ones I saw who didn't, but I heard there were more and heck. Show some respect! Are you not from America or have you forgotten the way things go around here!? "It's a free country, I can do what I want" ...it is, and to heck with you for not acknowledging where those opportunities and blessings come from, and why we have them. Is it such a hard thing to humble your pride and lift a hand?? Our freedom is at risk everyday because of selfish and ignorant people exactly like you, who don't give a dang. I know i'm being pissy right now, and you can totally see how strongly I feel about (believe me, i could go on for pages)... but I want to tell all those disrespectful and arrogant minded people that they should PRAY something doesn't happen to their husband, wife, child or loved one that humbles them to be grateful for all we have.... we live in the greatest country in the entire world. Why? Because we fight for it. In blood, tears and words-we fight for it. There are people who will never to any extent or comparison, experience what we do on a day-to-day basis. It's a blessing that we have all we do, simply because the Lord sent us here to the United States. He could have just as easily born us into a mud-floor, grass hut filled with flies and excrement where there is no food to eat, and no clean water, where our government is corrupt and our families live in fear and danger everyday. But He didn't. That alone seems like an untouchable blessing, but for us Americans it is only the very, very basic beginning.

THAT is why I am completely offended, and why Kirk and I have vowed to never let that happen again without something being said.(Don't worry, we'll be nice about it :)...... or at least try!)

It may not be your husband who is in the military, or your girlfriend who is in the Air Force, or your son who is sent over seas... it may not be your nieghbor who will be crippled for the rest of their live due to war, or your grandpa that left his wife a widow and his children fatherless... but it IS someones' someone out there. And it is YOU who reaps the benefit. don't you get it???? rawr

SOMEONE'S HERO!

That was the theme of Rodeo night #1, the Childrens night! They had all the firefighters, police, medics and military members be recognized. It was so cool! They even drove a tank out in the middle of the arena and had a little girl climb out the top holding an American flag. THEN they had a combat helicopter fly overhead. It was a pretty awesome recognition for all our service-men in our community! And it sure made me a proud wife! Kirk is such a stud. When the firefighters walked out (they were the very first) the little boy infront of me looked at his dad and said "This is so awesome!" and I couldn't help but smile through tears. Kirk and I have it all, I love him so much, I'm so proud of you sweetheart.

excited? WAY!

My Accomplishment of TODAY!
i'm very proud of myself!
  • I finished my visiting teaching!! bomb baby! I made a goal to do my VT b/c I never have! This month went absolutely fabulous and I have come to really see why we do it. If not for the girl-talk that we ALL NEED (admit it or not) it's to share ideas and help with everyday things in our lives. It was good for me to just meet new friends, being somewhat new to our ward. I learned that the lessons are important and inspired but not essential to building this kind of a realtionship. Especially when you have less active families or some who aren't ready to hear it! It's more about service. But ending the visit with a prayer certainly brings a powerful spirit. Anywho's... I'm super proud of it, but slightly ashamed that it's a first for me! Aimee and I rock, go US!

Guess What Else!?!!!!!

I've been learning how to bargain shop...find amazing deals and use them coupons!

  • Bra's from heaven! I found the best fit I have ever had in YEARS! So.... i got 3! After a $10 gift card and a coupon I got them all for $18.60!! Which to me, the only thing that could make this any better was if they were dipped in chocolate!
  • 7 cake mixes, 1 cornbread mix, 3 twenty oz pancake mixes, 3 boxes of pretzels, 1 box of pop tarts, 1 12ct box of brownies, 1 box of granola bars, 1 diet mtn dew, 1 package of rice, 3 Cups of Noodles for $14.23!!!!!!!!!!! I went to buy snacks for Kirks office at work and holy smokes! Course I went to another store to buy apples and yogurts for snacks as well, but I got 22 items for less then 15 bucks! loved it!

TODAY ROCKS!

Loo Loo Shmoo Shmoo

L.O.V.E. Locks!
Have you ever heard of a 'Love Lock'? It's symbolic of locking/sealing your love FOREVER! The idea came to America from Asia... there's a long, beautiful artsy fence on the Great Wall of China that has literally thousands of locks on it. On them are engraved couples names...they put their lock on the fence, then throw the keys off the great wall to never be found, symbolically locking their love forever. Well, a guy name Randall Paul (is way stinkin awesome) brought this idea to little St George. But instead of throwing the keys away, he simply made locks without a key hole at all! It's pretty awesome! If you live here, or are coming out we'll have to show it to you! The locks are pretty cheap too! Plus, he's letting people use their own :) It's pretty cute!

PEACH YUMMY-NESS!
Here I am after some hard work! But it sure paid off....peach jam! It was my first time, but it turned out suprisingly well! I'm pretty happy with it :)

YARD WORK!
Gotta love it!

BANANANANANA Bread!

HAPPY BABY SHOWER BRECKEN!

Don't let the blue and brown fool you, because this mama is pregnant with a GIRL! For cute huh!? This is my good friend Brecken. I met her last year at the hospital when I worked in the Float Pool. She's so awesome! She is always there for me to have a little girl talk with, something I sometimes can't get enough of! Isn't her cake stinkin cute!? Love you girly! Congratulations again!

HUSBAND TO THE RESCUE!
As the picture below shows... we were just getting ready to go to Western Underground when Kirk got called out! So I dropped him off at the station, caught a great action pic, then went out for a diet coke and a walk. Luckily it was a quick call for him so we still made it to the concert! i LOVE country music!!! Especially a concert on the rodeo grounds... :) St george rocks!

There is SooOOOo much I want to say! Geez la weez! TGIF, right?!

  • I just absolutely, with every stinkin cell of my ginormous body, LOVE teaching. Love it! I TOTALLY love it! I walked out of Riverside Elementary today all sorts of happy! Kids can be so amazing and catch your eye when you least expect it! Preschoolers are angels at the PERFECT age, but elementary aged kids are so... just sooo... impressive. So diverse. I love seeing the wheels turn in their heads, and I love watching them interact. God is amazing! And just like that, I think I've found it! I'm onto something with this job.... I just know it! I'm almost, not completely, but more then I have ever been CONVINCED about what I want to be. And it's been one week.... It's my sign -i HOPE! :)
  • this morning we watched the CUTEST baby ever! It's official! We've been helping out our neighbors who just had a baby boy. We watch him on Fridays while they're at work and he's ADORABLE! My goodness! I could just kiss his chubbers all day!

  • Well, when you see my furrrry legs I hope you think of Kirk haha. If they fluff against you, gross you completely out, or mislead you to think I'm tan...it's his fault. Hahaha I told him that I wasn't going to shave my legs until he suprises me! He has hidden all the razors in our house and thinks it's funny...

  • GUESS WHAT!!!????!!!!!!!!!!! There's an LDS private school in our small town USA!! K-8th grade. FREAKIN SWEET huh!??!!! I learned about it from one of the mothers at school today! I drove by it today, it's dang small, but it's there! I was talking to another teacher about how there's a lot in the curriculum that she doesn't agree with anymore...teaching gay marriage is okay, ect. ....and when I heard about Liberty Academy it brought me back to my glory days at Deseret Academy, the private LDS I went too. I told kirk about it and about how freakin expensive it is, and we're just keeping our fingers crossed that it survives for our future children. I just think that a lot of my knowledge, testimony and love of the gospel came FIRST from my good mother, and SECOND from learning about it everyday of my life at an early impressionable age. *Please survive little school, PlEaSe! And maybe, JUST MAYBE I will teach there??? :) *

  • I have become the craft QUEEN lately! I've done all sorts of cutsie's! I'll have to take pics, but it been way fun! And a good use of my time!

  • I went to the dentist and DIDN'T HAVE ANY CAVITIES!!! This was a follow up apt b/c apparently my dentist thought he saw somethin, but nope! nothin! I went in mentally prepared for shots and goobers and came out 5 minutes later smiling! WahOOo! I learned today that because your teeth are living bones, they can heal themselves...meaning they can heal cavities! so maybe that's what happened!? i dunno but i'm HAPPY!
  • THE UTES WON! If you want to buy tickets to the ultimate showdown, the last game of BYU vs Utah ever, let us know! we are too! can't wait... nov baby!
  • Kirk has been called as the Ward Mission Leader and I'm his lovely assistant! We had our first meeting, taught our first Gospel Principles Class and our having the missionaries over for dinner this weekend! We've also become their personal taxies...it's great! We just love it!

....Well i gotta go! I'll finish the update soon! Later alligator!

9/6/10

Happy Labor Day!
Today I have a lot to be grateful for... :) I'm grateful that cute Poly Mary brought over an extra case of peaches that she picked from the Orchard. (She's so awesome, I really need to get to know her better. She is so soft spoken and makes me feel so good. She's our sweet neighbor who moved in about the same time we did. She is separated from her husband and has 5 kids (i think that's how many at least!) and they're such a good family! The girls are always riding their bikes and Ammon comes over a lot to hang out with Kirk when he's not busy with his high school football. Anyways I'm so grateful she brought over those yummy peaches.) I''m grateful she said Hi to me yesterday at church, I didn't realize how wonderful it felt to hear my name haha. I'm grateful I was able to spend most of the day making jam. I'm grateful my mother has taught me how to do those things :) I'm grateful Kirk worked so hard in our yard. It looks soo awesome, he's amazing. I'm grateful we were able to go out for dinner. I'm grateful we laughed and had fun together. I'm grateful that we got moja a squeeky toy because she loves it! It's funny to be sitting on the couch reading together and out of nowhere hear her go crazy with the squeeky thingy! It makes me laugh every time! I'm grateful our house smells like yummy banana bread. MmMMmm One day I'll make it as good at my mom, i hope!! I'm grateful I had a warm shower, with smell-good soap and creamy lotion :) I'm grateful that school starts tomorrow! I can't WAIT to meet my cute little students :) I'm grateful that Kellie called me 'sis' today. It made me feel so good! I'm grateful for the BOM. I'm grateful I've read it every year since 2004, and then some. I'm grateful that I got married when I was 19... it's been just over a year and I am beginning to see more blessings and protection from it everyday. I'll have to expound on it more, but Heavenly Father truly had it layed out in my plan. I'm grateful for my chelsey baker girl and what a good, good friend she is to me. ...so grateful... just to name a few!

9/5/10

What a WEEKend!
Lizzy and her Andrew came in town Friday night and we got to see them!! AWH I was so stinkin excited! When Lizzy text me to give me the good news I couldn't have been more happy to hear it! I LOVE when our friends come in town especially when we're not too busy to play! The boys went golfing Saturday morning while her and I caught up :) Nothin like girl talk! We went on a nice walk, then bought groceries to make a splendid YUMMY breakfast! Our hubby's are the luckiest men in the world. Cinnamon rolls, fruit, sausage, eggs, chocolate milk and apple juice=SooOOoO good! Then we wiggled on our swimsuits and hit the pools! It was perfect. Lizzy and Andrew are so stinkin cute together, it was so fun for me to see them together! I think it was the first time we've hung with just the 4 of us sense their wedding!! I'm so glad they came down! I hope they had a nice, relaxing vacation!
Geez...then what did we do!? We took a freakin long nap-THAT's what we did! It was so nice... Kirk has been way stinkin busy and I had to spend the last 2 nights sleepin alone because he was fightin fires :( :( :( I miss him a lot when he goes, but I try to think of only the good thoughts...and there are soo many of them! I always say a small prayer in my heart about how grateful I am that my home isn't the one on fire, that my family isn't in danger, and that our things are safe. It makes it a lot easier! I also try to picture him helping people out of flames, or just putting our the fire... how grateful they must be to him and the other firemen for coming to the rescue. If I were them I would be so deeply thankful and humbled by their help....It makes lonely nights and last minute cancelations soo much more enjoyable. :) I have a lot to be grateful for, and I know that somewhere out there people our grateful to me for giving up my hubby for a few hours.
We sure had a crazy CRAZY day recently! First, we got pulled over for not stopping at a stop sign (what the? i SWEAR we did)...but whatev. Anywho, after that we continued on our way to eat some yummy Panda Express. Afterwords we did a little sock shopping. When we walked out of the store a man wearing a Best Buy shirt literally leached onto us! He tried selling us this killer entertainment center that was "worth over 2500 dollars, but [he] would sell it to us for any amount if we would promise not to return it, or resale it."...Fishy? MUCHO! He practically put the box in our car, we had to take it out and set it on the floor! His story was never the same either. Gosh,...The guy wouldn't leave us alone and it was nearly impossible to leave the parking lot. He claimed it was extra merchandise bla bla bla and that he would give it to us for $200 just because he knew we would use it bla bla. Anywho, we ended up having him follow us to a busy gas station so we could get his license plate number and turn him in. We were convinced it was stolen! He seemed WAY too desperate. But..Little did we know, the cops were already ontop of it! When we got to Cheveron Kirk and the dude went inside while I picked up the cell to call it in...but guess who pulled in right behind us?! The police. hahaha it was crazy! Needless to say the man got hauled away and after we filled out reports, we got to leave! BUT, that's not the end of the story!! We stopped on our way home to participate in a little politics. At the corner of River Rd and 700 S there was some Obama bashing goin on and we wanted to learn about it. (Kirk and I have made a goal to get more involved in politics and this was one way for us to do it.) Anways, the same cop that we saw earlier came to make sure things were legal and it was funny to see him again. THEN kirk got called out in the middle of the night on a druggy dude and i'll give you OnE gUeSS as to who else was there...!?!?!?? HIM! Again! crazy huh!? ANyways, it was a pretty wacky day!
Well Sunday's are always just fabulous, arent they!? It was fast Sunday and my good Kirky bore his testimony about J Smith and the restored gospel. He's so awesome. I also got to say the closing prayer in Sacrament Meeting :) It always makes me feel so good to participate in any way I can. Sunday School and RS were great too, but I want to tell you about our Sunday walk. It was so peaceful! We went back to the Hanky Pank with mo. It was Sooo fun! It was actually pretty late so we took this ginormous flash light that my dad gave Kirk. It was perfect. We walked a ways, then went off trail down to the river. Mo was SO funny! She loves water! She was runnin, splashin and jumping all over the place! Kirk found a good stick that she played fetch with too. She has so much energy sometimes, it's hilarious! It also cracked me up to see her run in the sand. I don't know why she loved it so much, maybe because it's soft on her paws, but she went CRAZY! She was making dust clouds all over the place! Silly silly girl... But, back to the river! The cool water felt sooo good, it was cold-but a refreshing cold that matched the warm night air just perfeectly! Especially with a breeze...aww. It even smelled good too! It smelled fresh :) This world is such a beautiful one! We are so blessed to live where we do. And we even made it back to our house in time for the U vs Pitt game *replay! yesssss

ps. I'm going to attempt to completely turn to our blog and stop with the old fasioned journal-ness. Just a heads up! I imagine our blog will be updated almost daily, but probably more boring hahaha. So if the title is the date, that's your warning :)

Head-Over-Heels gaga!

Well, here I am sitting infront of the lap top trying to figure out what to write about. I could tell you about the unknown, crazy-old grandma that showed up on our door step, and INSISTED on a tour of our master bedroom...soooo DeNiEd... but still wouldnt leave our house..., or I could tell you about how we watched the cops take down a theif who was in mid-conversation with us yesterday... But eh. I've been sipping on my Diet Mtn Dew, chewing gum balls from kellies wedding for 30 minutes now and I just don't know! If Kirk were home I would be sleeping in our comfy bed, but there's just somethin un-appealing about falling alseep alone when you know exactly the joy it is to have your spouse next to you instead. Don't get me wrong-it's not an insecurity, but rather a paradisiacle relaxation and cozyness that I know I don't get to embrace tonight. It's hard to understand if you've never felt it. It's just like getting your nails done.... getting a manicure is totally cute and fabulous-but once you get a hot set of sparkling nails, a manicure just isn't as fun... -OR- it is somewhat comparable to going to a massage spa after a week of Boot Camp and hard work outs. You're stiff, sore and in need of some healing. You're in the lobby, have paid and are sipping your cool water.... but that's it. You don't actually get a massage. You're there, ready and dreamin of it..buttt it aint happenin no matter how nice it sounds... SOoO likewise... I know exactly what I dont get. And yes, "Me Time" is enjoyable like crazy! I've already shaved my legs, done a little shopping, chatted with a girlfriend and have my oatmeal face mask on as we speak, but I have to say my prayers alone tonight... Huh. How did THAT tast coming out of my mouth? Yucky! When I roll over in the middle of the night, nothing will be there. Kinda wierd hahaha. And when Moja barks @ 6am in the morning I-ME-MEEE has to feed her. Now I know exactly what you're thinking.... I'm sappy and attatched... Yes I am. I love it. If you refer to me as "Kirks Wife" for the rest of my life I would be absolutley flattered hahahaha jk. BUT... Speaking of love... What is it?

Definition of L.O.V.E. according to Catharine:

  • a devotion of One-ness [to One] in everyway...spiritually, emotionally, physically, mentally, romantically

  • Somthing only felt to it's complete fulness between man & wife

  • Godliness

  • an inspirational attraction

  • a Virtue

  • passion and desire

  • commitment and value

  • a hunger or thirst

  • somthing that has the power to create silly, dorky and childish explosion of happiness inside you!..without making you feel DUMB (even though you probably should haha)

  • a bursting, bright and instant energy

I LOVE YOU KIRKY MONSTER!!!

I guess I'll blast the AC all night so I can at least cuddle in his sweatshirt and bball shorts. ...sigh...just like olds times again.

tickles and whispers of the Holy Spirit...

...that have taught or reminded me of glorious truths.

My Eternal Companion

  • Catharine Fortuna will always be a princess, but Catharine McAllister will always be a Queen.
  • It is better that I die a most tortureous, grieveous and terrifying death than lose my Purity or break my Covenants. Defend it nobly. Satan has confused the world. If I get bamboo shoved under my finger nails, flesh eating bugs scattered on me, and nails hammered into my teeth then left for open festering infections to puss (like the Chinese do to torture).... it is worth it. In the Eternal perspective, it is always worth it.
  • Kirk is so in-tune with the spirit. Sustain it, honor it and encourage it beyond anything else.
  • Some parts of life can be draining and hard, but it's worth it to work through it. School may be a struggle, self image may be a struggle, it may be drugs.. family.. motherhood.. health... marriage ...dating...anything. But that's the key...you just gotta work through it. This world if full of the "easy way outs", avoid them. There is more satisfaction and self gratification in working through whatever life has given you.
  • Joseph Smith didn't just see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ when he was 14. They didn't only tell him not to join the current churches... but they conversed, taught and explained glorious things to him. Who knows how long Joseph could have been in that grove of trees. I never thought of it that way before...
  • The world needed relgious leaders such as Clement, Cletus, Linus, and Luther in the Middle ages. They helped to open the minds of the people so when JS organized the Church, the world was okay with this new and Enlightened relgion. The world was forced under a strong but un-unified Christian belief at the time. If it weren't for these men being brave enough to break up the molds, JS would have been ignored and looked down upon even more. Then the American dream of relgious freedom blossomed. Relgious excitement flourished. Heavenly Father truly prepared the world for Joseph.

LOVE our LIFE together!

End of Summer party!

The St George Fire Department put on a big dinner for all the Firefighters and their wives- no kids! It was our first time going to a big Fire Party and it was soo fun!! I got to hang out and meet some of the wives and Kirk got his time with the guys. It made me so excited to be involved in such an awesome team. One lady I met, Jenny, has been involved in Fire with her husband for 46 years. Everyone was so welcoming, nice and full of energy! We just loved it! Plus the GIANT BBQ in the fire station was delicious! I can't wait for more big parties! I'm so proud of my husband too!

THE DOG PARK!
All rules and trainig goes out the window!
Moja was so tuckered out that she was sleeping in the water bowl. It was soo funny! I've never seen her do that before

I would have never imagined it in my wildest dreams...the dog park. The yucky, goobery, wet, stinky dog park. Full of slobbering and pooping dogs who have nothing better to do then chew on each other. It's quite an experience! One that we get to enjoy several times a week :) hahaha
My Sleepy Man!
It takes SECONDS, literally, for him to crash after a long hot battle with a fire. It can be pretty funny sometimes!

HALLE!
Isnt' she a doll!? I tried to take a cute pic with her of us swimming but it just didn't happen! But i loved this pic. Look at the CUTE CUTE chubby little finger poking through my earring :) Oh i just fell in love with this sweet thing. Thanks for letting me babysit mommy Brenna!

inspired by the Disney Tarzan movie! :)

"Put your faith in what you most believe in"

What do I believe in the most? ...For me, More than anything I believe in Kirk (he is more than anything I can describe, perhaps one day Heavenly Father can give me a word that defines him, until then nothing is wonderful enough ), and I Believe in my Heavenly Father. Everything seems to catagorize itself under those things.... My loving Eternal Companion, Family and the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. That sums it up for me in one statement...

But I also want to expound on just a little more... I believe in love. I believe in goodness, and good friends. I believe in building self confidence in yourself as well as those around you-but especially the ones you love and serve. I believe in Hard work and finding joy. I believe in dedicating yourself to your personal convictions. I believe in forgiving to progress, I believe in progression. I believe in the Good book just as much as I believe in the Book of Mormon, I know there's something important in them for me no matter what stage of my life I am in. I believe in being gentle and kind. I believe in being inspired, and finding ways to inspire and encourage others. I believe in supporting one another, that's part of love. Gosh, there is soo much to believe in. But I guess what's important is what you most believe in. Perhaps, maybe what you most believe in should influence or encompass all your mini-beliefs, that just seems right.

It's easy to have faith when you just start to believe in something, anything.
I have faith in my Kirk and my Lord.

On a lighter note! This is what our friend just posted on FB! :

Let's go through this one more time. There is a difference between a nerd and a geek. Web designer, nerd; IT guy, geek. Nerds can function in reality. Geeks function only in virtual reality. Nerds can get dates. Geeks eat dates. Geez, folks.

Somehow I can't help but think of my little brother.... :)
